REVIVE
'She stepped out onto the shop floor, oblivious to the dark, emaciated figure reflected in the bright metal of the dishwasher behind her, and strode quickly towards the staffroom. Her little black plimsolls, chosen for their comfortable fit against her aching feet, squeaked quietly across the shop floor.'

'Christmas is coming. It is a time of celebration, of goodwill and the sharing of gifts... But not for Tammy Becks. Her mother is sick, her brothers need looking after and in her desperation she turns to a coffee shop, a quiet little back-alley place, far from the bustle of the high street. It is called Revive.
Phil has lost his job of twenty years. With the festive pressure mounting and a family of his own to feed, he must do whatever necessary to make ends meet, even if that means donning a beard, jacket and boots for the foreseeable future...
Except even that proves uncertain, when a last coffee on Christmas Eve sees him at Revive. A subtle horror has been brewing and the untimely death of a regular unleashes it in all its ancient, bitter force. Even the dead can't resist one last drink before closing...'

First and foremost, you're a gifted writer [...] it was a pleasure to sit back and enjoy this. Your use of figurative language is subtle yet effective, creating a vivid image in my mind each time.

Great characterisation, vivid and very human. Simple things, so eloquently described the reader can't help but relate.
Very impressive use of language but never stuffy or obnoxious.

My overwhelming impression is that the author writes extremely good, crisp, clean prose and has a very good command of the English language. There are a lot of affecting and atmospheric descriptions of the settings, particularly the coffee house and the Christmas market in there and some excellent turns of phrase and pieces of imagery.
